Shiva Lingam stones are from the Narmada River in India, in the mountains of Mandhata. Mandhata is one of the seven sacred holy places of pilgrimage in India. The stones are made of crypto crystalline quartz, which is said to contain the "loftiest vibrations of all stones on Earth."
The stone is representative of male and female energy, where the main stone represents the male (knowledge), and the markings represent female energy (wisdom). Possessing one of these stones is said to bring harmony and balance because of the mixture of the male/female energy.
Folklore says that the Shiva Lingam contains a microscopic form of the entire universe.
